We are pleased to inform you that CMHC is now receiving applications for the 2022-23

Housing Internship for Indigenous Youth (HIIY) program. The intake period to receive

applications will run from February 24 to April 22, 2022.

The goal of the HIIY program is to assist Indigenous youth between the ages of 15-30 in

pursuing long-term employment in the housing sector. The program provides financial

support to sponsors who provide housing-related internships that combine on the job

training, skills development and practical work experience. Our HIIY Fact Sheet, attached

here, provides a complete description of the program and its requirements.

As you know, you can now apply to CMHC programs by using the online Client

Portal. If you already have a profile and account set up in the Portal, you can access it by

clicking on the CMHC Client Portal link.

If you do not already have a portal account:

Please click on the link to access the Guide on How to Create a Profile and Account

in the Portal

We will also be hosting an informational webinar introducing the CMHC

Client Portal on March 3rd — you will receive the invitation and registration link for

this webinar by separate email shortly.

If you already have a portal account:

This guide provides step-by-step instructions to assist you in the process of

completing and submitting a HIIY application.

If you plan to apply for more than one intern, please note that you will be required to

either:

-Submit a separate application for each intern; or

-Submit one application along with the Project Cost Table, which allows you to

provide the required details for all additional interns. This Excel table is attached for

your convenience.

Please note that while every effort is made to allocate funding to as many applicants as

possible, given the limited funding available, a prioritization process may be undertaken,

where priority will be given to applications based on the strength of the responses.

If you are currently receiving HIIY funding for 2021-22 (fiscal year ending March 31,

2022) please make sure to submit your final reporting documents (Youth Profile Part C

and Final Payment Request Form) in order for your 2022-23 Application to be considered.

We recognize that internet connectivity or access to computers may be an issue for some

of you. Please be assured that alternate options for application submissions exist and we

will work to accommodate your specific needs and expectations. As always, if you have

any questions, do not hesitate to reach out to Julie Michaud Account Representative, INHS

Ontario at jkmichau@cmhc-schl.gc.ca or your designated Client Specialist. We are here to assist you.
