Overview 

Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL) is currently accepting applications for a Director of Indigenous Relations to lead and direct all Indigenous relationship and capacity-building activities. The Director will be responsible for developing and implementing a Reconciliation-based strategy to create opportunities for Indigenous communities to engage with CNL science and technology programs with respect to environmental remediation, clean energy, and Canadian health. The Director will also challenge and inspire CNL to meet its responsibilities and commitments to, and expand relationships with, the Indigenous peoples of the territories in which we operate, while ensuring that CNL Indigenous engagement efforts meet or exceed regulatory requirements.

Qualifications 

Education: Post-secondary degree in a relevant area of study (i.e., Indigenous studies, equity studies, social sciences). A graduate degree will be considered an equivalent combination of education and related professional and community experience.

Experience:

  • Minimum 10 years of effectively advancing Indigenous initiatives with evidence of Indigenous engagement, capacity building and participation
  • Demonstrated experience with best evidence-based and/or traditional practices in Indigenous engagement, agreement implementation and management
  • Preference may be given to applicants who self-identify as having Indigenous heritage (First Nations, Métis or Inuit)
