PROGRAM 1 β EMPLOYMENT INSURANCE (EI)

This is the one most people know β but did you know EI can also pay for your TRAINING while you look for work?
β’ If you lost your job through no fault of your own, you can collect EI while you look for work
β’ You can ALSO take a training course while on EI in many situations β with Service Canada’s permission
β’ EI covers 55% of your average insurable weekly earnings up to a set maximum
β’ You must have worked enough hours β check your eligibility at canada.ca
β’ Apply as soon as you stop working β even before you have your Record of Employment

PROGRAM 2 β CANADA-ALBERTA JOB GRANT (CAJG)

If you have an employer willing to train you, or you are looking at a new job that requires training β this program can cover the cost.
β’ Employers can get up to $10,000 per person for training costs
β’ If you are unemployed and being hired, the employer can get up to $15,000 and pay NOTHING out of pocket β 100% covered
β’ Works for certificates, diplomas, professional courses, and job-specific training
β’ Training must result in a credential or record of completion
β’ The EMPLOYER applies β so bring this information to whoever is hiring you

PROGRAM 3 β CANADA APPRENTICE LOAN

Are you thinking about the trades? Electrician, plumber, heavy equipment operator, welder, power engineer? This program is for you.
β’ Up to $4,000 in INTEREST-FREE loans per period of technical training
β’ You make NO payments and NO interest builds while you are in training
β’ Available in all provinces and territories (except Quebec which has its own)
β’ For registered apprentices in designated Red Seal trades
β’ Apply as early as 3 months before your training starts
β’ Can be combined with EI benefits during your classroom training periods

PROGRAM 4 β SKILLED TRADES AND APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAMS
All of Canada
The trades are booming in Canada right now. Electricians, pipefitters, HVAC, power engineers, carpenters, and welders are in HIGH demand and the pay is excellent.
β’ Register as an apprentice in your province β Alberta: alberta.ca/apprenticeship
β’ Once registered you qualify for the Canada Apprentice Loan AND EI during class time
β’ Red Seal certification means your trade is recognized in every province in Canada
β’ Employers can also receive up to $10,000 from the government just for hiring a first-year apprentice

This is a federal program specifically for young people who face barriers to employment.

β’ Covers youth aged 15 to 30 who face barriers like poverty, disability, or lack of experience

β’ Employers can receive up to 100% of minimum wage for each person hired

β’ BDC (Business Development Bank of Canada) can add another $40,000 on top
β’ Total potential startup financing: up to $60,000
β’ Comes with up to 2 years of FREE mentorship from an experienced business owner
β’ Open to all Canadians aged 18β39 β and has a specific stream for Indigenous entrepreneurs
